I have to repair a cartridge which has gold-wired coils and require low temperature solder - preferably indium solder wire. During the past few days, I made many enquiries eg Christensen (totally clueless about any type of low temperature solder), Communica (phoned 3X and the relevant party/ies lines were on voicemail, left messages but no-one called back).
Another place in Wadeville Jhb did get back to me re indium solder paste (unsuitable for soldering iron use, has to be baked and the smallest quantity flux = 5l also needed. Far too much for a once-off job.
I've seen rolls of 1mm indium solder wire ex China.
Fluxed lead?alloy solder, low temperature eg 130 to 145degrees C - where to buy locally?
My Magnum soldering station's lowest temperature according to its digital display is +-145degrees. The two lead/tin and lead/silver fluxed solders I have here has a minumum of 180degrees C melting point which may be too high a temperature which may vaporise the cartridge wires.
