I don?t know if and where this has been answered so please excuse me if this is an old question. Due to budget and space constraints I have identified two options that I could follow to improve my stereo setup.

I am currently using a Marantz Sr5003 AV connected to a Sony Blu Ray and Marantz 5003 Cd Player. I do my Stereo playback in Pure direct mode into a pair of B&W 685?s. Which doesn?t do to badly given it is a  Home Theatre set up.

My goal is to improve my stereo quality by the largest margin and to future proof in the sense that I might want to get a pair of B&W684 for fronts.

The two options I have is to either put a Stereo power amp onto the AV for the fronts ?I am thinking one of the new Rotel?s -120Watt per Channel

Or

A Marantz Pm 7003 Integrated. I can connect the CD Player and fronts to the integrated and use it as a dedicated stereo system and it has a slave function that make it a pure power amp-and it has the correct connections so that it will function to drive the HT setup-it also disables the volume control on the Integrated so no matching issues. Its only 70watts per channel thou.

So guys in your thoughts which would be the better option. Obviously I would like to try and demo both items on the system as first prize. And Ideally going the pre/power separates route would be ideal. But with power amps demo options are far and few inbetween
