So here I go and try and upgrade a friends system..... mmmm
I swapped the (MY) Silver Sounds 12/2 cable with vdH - the source I bought for her.... so the lady friend and her dad BOTH after few minutes say "The sound is more mellow, it is as if the sounds does not have air/presense", they LIKED the other cable more...
I thought ok, they are picky/difficult maybe, so I rather put in some Audioquests I had with me, her dad says its almost the same (he is 67), she says it sounds better. So I thought, lets sneak in the Silver Sounds without them knowing, really I'm not going to hang over this stand all day swapping cable.
So I ask them to listen again, said I just tightened the cable.... low and fricking behold... her dad "I dont know what you did but the music sounds more alive now, you can hear so much more detail". She says "I like it just like that, dont change anything"
Well fff me blind.... Two total novices, they NEVER had proper hi-fi before could hear differences in cables. They were VERY surprised too, said if I told them that before they listened they would have laughed at me.....
Alas I LOST my Silver Sounds, went home with "the source"
Any unbelievers, Ill take you there, I can prove the interconnects DOES make a difference and this time it wasn't subtle! I myself was VERY surprised at the big difference too! Was it the cost of the system ? Matching ? It is a $6000 system..... Is this where cables start making serious difference ?
Placement too made huge difference when I first set it up....
