I have the CD and think that the mastering is crap as it is horribly compressed and loud (no dynamic range). Wikipedia says that more compression was added to the CD version. ( http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Suburbs_(Arcade_Fire_album)#Background )
Ripping the CD with CDex the levels reading says -0.7db. In my mind that means it has really been mastered loud... right to the edge.
I would love to get my hand on the vinyl version to compare...
