Okay, maybe not that interesting
Since adding a CDP to my system I have been pleasantly surprised by the detail I am hearing on many of my CDs.
This weekend I listened to a CD by Enya, Amarantine and was confronted with detail I did not appreciate! On two of the tracks there are high frequency harmonizing(female vocals and synthesizer) and during those passages it sounded like distortion on my tweeters - almost a scratching sound! The volumes levels were fairly low, so I could not attribute the sound to high volume distortion.
However when I play the same CD on my DVD player, the sound is gone!
Could this be caused by an overly compressed recording or just a bad pressing? As a matter of interest, I have tried another CDP of the same make(NAD) with exactly the same results.
