Replaced some batteries in an old UPS yesterday and was scratching my head at how the batteries were wired together. 24V system and there are 4 x 12V batteries. They are all wired in series as follows:
|- +| |- +| |+ -||- +|
This gives out a total of 24V
All the documentation I can find for wiring 4 x 12V batteries for 24V states that you have to create to pairs in series and the parallel them. Which is what I would have done.
Are there any drawbacks or positives to wiring them in this arrangement they used?
