Hi All....

I am a fellow AV nutcase. LOL, and I am truly glad to find a South African AV forum.

So, basically, I am a South African, currently living in Lagos, Nigeria, on a 2 year contract but I'll be back in SA prob in the next 6 months or so.

I am an audio freak, I don;t know nearly as much about audio as I'd like to, but I'm always learning. I reckon that I'll learn a ton from this site tho. :) I was quite prolific on the speed and sound forums aswell (but only in the Sound Quality section). I love my audio, and spent alot of time and money focussing on my car audio. However, since I moved to nigeria I've had a company car so my equipment has been in storage ever since. If it's of interest to anyone I can certainly post the pics and specs here.

But, hy home AV setup is like this:
  • 1500W RMS Sony 6.2 Boxed Hifi (forgive me for buying a box set but trust me in nigeria you 'd have to pay an arm and leg to get anything else! But I am really happy with the sounds from it, the link is here: click here - I have the silver model of that
  • I have a PC I put together myself, it's quiter a monster, attached to it is a Dell 3007 WFP (30 Inch LCD computer monitor - runs at 2560 x 1600 resolution)
  • In the PC I have an external Creative X-Fi Elite Pro for signal processing
  • Xbox 360 Elite
  • Optoma HD80 Full Hd projector

Everything is connected digitally:
  • audio via fibre optics
  • Video from Xbox via HDMI cable
  • Video from PC via DVI (projector) and Dual link DVI (to screen)

Also have wireless networking thru the house and have setup my PC as a media centre for my Xbox.

So, all in all, I do REALLY like my audio, I have DSTV but haven't turned it on in months caus any free time I pretty much spend listening to music. LOL

There is one question I have about everything tho, is it possible to have full 5.1 sound going thru 1 fibre optic cable without Dolby or any other encoding/decoding? I can only get full 5 point sound from my PC when watching Dolby Encoded DVD's or games....?

Edit - Oh yeah, shout if you want me to put up some pics...
