Been an Afrihost customer for 5 years. In July they sent me an email offering to upgrade the line to 10 mpbs (I was on 4 mbps). Just about to order it, another email arrives, I can only get 8mpbs. So agreed
It did not work, so Afrihost sent Telkom around, they fiddled for half a day. Next thing Afrihost tells me Telkom will replace the cable from the pole to the house, but in addition, I must replace all the internal wiring with twisted pair, get new POTS filters for the 6 devices connected
I get someone to assist doing this work, it took a whole day and cost R2300
Telkom come round again and do their bit, say it is the best that I can manage, but I am too far from the exchange to have a reliable 8 mbps connection
It does work, but loses sync at least 4 times every day. So I post a Support Request at Afrihost
Now I am told, 8mbps will never work, you should not have requested it. Telling them that it was them who suggested the move cuts no ice, they say I was "misinformed". Thus I have spent this time and money for nothing
No refund will be given for the downgrade from 8mbps to 4mbps
Friend two doors away has LTE-A, so I decide to go this route. I ask Afrihost how to arrange a seamless change from ADSL to LTE-A on 1st October. I quickly discover that the LTE sections and ADSL sections of Afrihost do not speak to each other. Anyway, I am instructed to apply and pay for the LTE router around 18th of the month to ensure I am given the router in time
Yesterday, 29th September, despite numerous reminders to them, there is no LTE router. I am told at 4.30pm that it will be at least another two weeks before it is sent. My payment still must be verified and a credit check done. This despite I have been paying them for 5 years already
I cancelled the order and requested a refund
