Recently Telkom's two techs were around my house and rewired the connection from the pole to my internal distribution point. The one assistant that came along seemed particularly slow-witted in that he needed his instructions telling 3 times
Two days later I found an almost full 300m reel of outdoor 4-core twisted pair cable in the back yard
I phoned Telkom and after speaking to 4 different people, managed to convey the message that this reel had been left behind
Instead of arranging a collection, Telkom reported it to the SAPS as theft of cable. A detective came around and did not want to believe me that Telkom had left it behind. I must now report to the station forthwith and sign an affidavit. I got the impression he was not that bright either. He got lost driving 4km from Diep River to my house and was an hour late
The reel of cable is still here. The cable is now "evidence" the detective said. I called Jedelec to find a 300m reel costs about R3000.
