Is your audio system really ready for lossless sound?

While winding down towards the year end, I wanted to do some research on lossy vs lossless sound and exactly how discernible it is.

And I stumble across this simple test and decide to test it with:
https://www.theverge.com/2017/4/5/15168340/lossless-audio-music-compression-test-spotify-hi-fi-tidal

and I coudnt get 1 of the 3 right on the first go. Complete fail.

Then I find this more complete ABX test:
http://abx.digitalfeed.net/
I gave it my best, but again fail hopelessly. To be truthfull I was guessing, cause I couldnt hear any difference.

The feedback was "you probably cant hear the difference between the lossy and lossless samples" - this confirms what I always suspected for my ears! Or could it be the listening kit I used:

- Beyerdynamic DT 990 pro [250ohm]
- nuprime udsd [pcm mode]
- 40 year old ears [with many years of exposure to high db trance festival music]

I would love to hear [see what I did there?] your feedback on these tests, and what kit you used while running those tests.
[And if you passed with your kit and live in Cape Town I would be most thrilled to get an invite from you to try these tests with your kit and my ears  :dop:]
