JHB-PTA east adventure, early morning traffic, etc

Hi all
I need to drive from Sandton to Pretoria east (Lynwood Rd) tomorrow morning (Wednesday), & be there before 9am.
I have not done this route in about 15 years, so those who know it please advise:
HOW much time do I need to allow?
Is traffic bad at this time?
Should I use the N1, or rather a lesser road like the old Pretoria Road (101)
