Did the following inside 1 hour:
1) Installed FreeNAS8
2) Created a RAIDZ volume consisting of 4 x 2Tb Seagate disks
3) Set up CIFS
4) Set up a Windows share
5) Mapped a drive and now copying a file
This is fantastic !!!!!!
All on my new hp microserver that I got from Rudi.
This took me about 2 days on FreeNAS 0.7 althougth that was a SoftRAID5 and formatting the disks took 1 and half days.
Notes on 8:
1) New GUI is awesome
2) Follow the documentation and setup will be a breeze
3) On the right hardware, FreeNAS works like a bomb
Now to go and try to play a movie off the hp through my Media Player over the LAN !!!
