My my kid bro gave me a lift in his 2007 Ford Fiesta the other day, and tho it's a nice little car and in no-way am I comparing to my Lexus, the sound was kinda awful
He was playing the Old Man's Child - Vermin CD, and the double-bass drumming sounded like cards on bicycle spokes :be:
I popped in the Tool - Lateralus CD and was shockingly hollow and dull.
I that stock/factory car audio is basic... didn't realize it could be that bad. :vsad:
My kid bro also uses his phone with a wind-screen mount for GPS... and not a problem, per say.. that is until he gets a call; The GPS app stops, needing to be started/resumed after the call.
So my idea was to get the below set-up for him:
Head unit:
- Android (4.1) 2-DIN GPS Navigation - Dual Core (A9 CPU) 3G, Internet, GPS, DVD, iPod, Bluetooth, Radio
Amp:
- Phoenix Gold Z500.4 [ 4CH Amplifier ]
Speakers:
- Front: Polk Audio MM571
- Rear: Polk Audio MM691 + BB Fiesta 2 2006
I'm not sure about the sound quality of the head-unit, but am strongly influenced by it being android based [4.1] with connectivity to the Play Store. He should be able to use a wide selection of GPS software from there.
Also, he can install his preferred music player he likes from the Play Store, along with EQs, etc. etc.
He doesn't want his car sounding like a cheap disco either, and would prefer to hear the lyrics clearly, and appreciate all the instruments; As opposed to just "itzz, itzzz, BooOoOoM, BooOoOoM" only.
I am afraid to make this post in a car sound forum, as they may focus on that or go extreme and have a 12" sub, cross-overs, etc. etc...
Please give me your feedback, suggestions, comments.
