OK. A bit upset. I know this is not the forum, but I am posting this on a few forums where I am active in the hope that some-one can help me.
My daughter takes dance lessons at a private school in Pretoria. Today my 4-year old son got shocked by their electric fence. He was shivery whole afternoon, and when they got home he asked to be put in bed. He woke a while back bit he is still distressed.
I took it lightly as the modern electric fence is rather safe, but I told my wife to call the owner/instructor/teacher and report it. She called to report, but the owner were totally negative about it, saying stuff about that:
- Does my wife want her to look after our kids also
- What does my wife want her to do
- It is an unsafe area (they have had some armed robberies in the area), yet the strange thing is that her gate is open so people can come and go as they please during lessons
My wife told her a few times that she just wanted to report it, but from the conversation I could hear that my wife was getting upset by the lady's attitude. That naturally totally upset me. The lady also told my wife that if the electric fence is an issue, then her school might not be the correct school for my daughter. Now I am not going to leave this here.
I have looked on the net regarding the local by-laws of Tswhane, but it does not seem that they cover it at all. I would think that there would be minimum regulations regulations regarding electric fences and places that cater for small kids. The Occupational Health and Safety Amendment Act, No. 181 Of 1993 does not cover this at all, apart that a owner of a private residence must go and report an incident at the South African Police.
Anyone have any idea what I can do. I am not going to let this slide.
