Okay guys... Back to square 1. Continuing on from http://www.avforums.co.za/index.php/topic,10706.0.html.
I was offered a Vandersteen 2Wq which I was going for, but the seller changed his mind and pulled out. As a result I am extremely upset lol.
After psyching myself up for the 2Wq, I am afraid of being let down by my budget.
So, once again, topping out at 6k budget, I am looking for a Subwoofer miracle.
I am very tempted to go with 2 less powerful subs in stereo. I think that for a sub to be agile and tight, the motor to cone ratio needs to be as high as possible, so two 10" drivers rather than a 15" type thing...
The primary use of this sub will be MUSIC... It will be used for HT too, but I don't want a boomy 'high q' sub that is going to distort and be sluggish.
My main speakers are Maggies, so they will be difficult to keep up with.
Unfortunately, aesthetics are important too. The PSB SS 5i for instance is so god damn ugly I wouldn't be able to handle it.
1) Are lower-powered stereo subs a good option, keeping in mind the motor-to-cone ratio?
2) Suggestions
What about 2x Jamo SUB250s (or are they too HT orientated)?
Please oh please will a miracle come my way...
Thanks gents
Chris
