I never listen to a record on any of my turntables with the lid closed, or even on the turntable. When I start playing, I remove the lid, put it to one side, and at the end of the day, when I am done playing music, it goes back on. Not sure why - I somehow think it introduces vibration/colour the sound, but it also just gets in the way of putting the record on, cleaning the stylus and so forth.
Also, I love turntables and, especially, tonearms, and I like to see and enjoy the whole show while I am spinning vinyl.
Recently I read somewhere that keeping the lid on, and closing it, prevents "atmospheric interference/thermal vibration" or something along those lines...
What does everyone else think about this? :nfi:
