facinated with the upgrade path of the LP12 I started my own journey. I am talking it to the extreme based on known mods and research done by design houses that was contracted by linn to do development for them.

the journey starts with a new plinth. the idea behind this design is high rigidity and low dampening
building a standard wooden plinth is easy enough and a quick job. its got it own snob value and plywood is frowned upon.

i used a very good quality latvian birch ply, layed out in the horizontal plane, so wastage is extremely high. i also used aluminium as a backbone for the structure. the entire structure is then doweld together with spruce dowels.

this thread is bound to irritate the purists, but this isn't for you. this is for the lateral thinkers that are prepared to explore new territories and not taking linn's ethos as gospel.
at the end of the process it will not be a linn anymore but maybe something better, maybe not
