Just bought a pair of Linn Sara's from a member on the forum, and after seeing them I have decided to rebuild them to their sonic glory. I doubt they will look as new, as the cabinets are a bit time worn. The outer cabinets are mode from a type of MDF of 25mm thickness, and the inside cabinet is some molded plastic, cannot identify. However, these things are extremely heavy, well made with close tolerances.

While it might cost me more than what they might be worth, I think it will be a fun project.

Idea:
Cabinets
Strip, clean as best possible.
See if possible to add something so that I can attach a new speaker grill (I already threw away the speaker grill I got with the speakers yesterday) without altering the speakers in any way. Thinking of magnets. If not possible speakers will be operated without grills, but the tweeter is made of this sticky material, and I think it might collect dust.
Refinish the cabinets in black paint.

Tweeter

The one tweeter is blown ... badly. I do not know if it is fixable without significantly altering the sonic character of the tweeter. I contacted Hiquphon to ask for a quote to get 2 new tweeters.

KEF B200. Drivers in one cabinet badly blown.
I do not know how successful fixing these drivers would be. Any input in that regard. I might be able to obtain 4 drivers from a person in Durban, depending on the price. They go for less than R1,000 on ebay (2 drivers). Emailed them to enquire whether they will ship to South Africa. One guy does not accept Paypal, so I will have to arrange for a wire transfer, with all the pleasures that brings.

Will completely redo using similar quality components.

Pictures to follow. Cannot remove the deep driver, neither the inner cabinet/front baffle (I really tried ...). Will try some more tonight.
