Local CD's - Any Good or are Imports Better ?

Hi

Yesterday I bought two locally pressed CD's.

HOWEVER

Within seconds after starting to listen to both CD's I could hear that the equalization is wrong. The mid-bass is overemphasized and the top end sounds like a cheap pizzo tweeter.

Now I ask myself:

a) What are the local sound engineers doing ?
b) What can we do to as a audio community to get better quality (return all CD's) or is it simply better to import everything yourself ?
c) THX exist for home video audio- is there not a similar standard for CD ?
