Local or imported capacitors, is their a difference in quality and the resultant sound?
I would like to recap two crossovers, but I am not sure if the locally available capacitors are good? (eg. Mancor) With my previous XO recap, I ordered the caps from Falcon Acoustics in the UK. (Fantastic service by the way!) Apparently the replacement caps are still made by the same people who made the original crossover/speakers (or something like that...) and are suppose to be a perfect match to the original.
So, does it really matter where the caps come from, as long as the values are the correct ones? I would prefer to just pop in at Mancor and walk out with the caps, as appose to order from Falcon and wait about 3 weeks for the caps to arrive. It is however important for me to have good quality afterwards.
These black and red caps looks like the same as the ones that Falcon offers as replacements...
