Local Speakers 45 years ago ??

I remember that about 45/50 years ago (not quite sure) there was anarticle of some local guys having developed a sort of "revolutionary" speaker enclosure and the critics reached unprecedented heights with their evaluations....All reviews were talking about "....sound quality / range / clarity etc. as never heard before At that stage I wasn't into any Hi or Low FI but I remember the furore till today.
Has anybody of the elders any knowledgeof these speakers - what they were all about and what happened to them?
