Took the dawg & the missus for a walk up Riverside in Newlands early this evening and when we got back to where I parked the car along the the M3, the damned thing wouldn't start.
I somehow knew what it was. The two batteries inside my car keys.
Had to walk back to Kenilworth, get the spare keys and walk back - I think the round trip was about 9km.
The key batteries were bought from my usual place and were 6 months old according to the date bought I scratched on them and were a wellknown brand.
There's no warning of failing key batteries. They will open and close the car doors but will not have sufficient juice to activate the ignition.
Do non-Renault cars do the same?
