I paid R200 for a "20000 mAh solar charged powerbank" on on day only. Complete piece of ****.
Its basically a scam. It cannot do what it says on the box. It is fitted with a 3.7V battery which is overcharged to give it 4.2V maximum output voltage... USB is 5V. It's JUST enough to charge something. For a few weeks until battery starts to degrade because of overcharging. This is also a safety hazard, Li-ion batteries catch fire if overcharged.
Also the power bank is described as 20000mAh. An identical looking device is on takealot described and 10000mAh... neither are true as the battery inside is an 8,000mAh unit
So. The rest of the innards look decent enough, solar panel generates more than 5V, two USB out. Torch led array. So maybe I can find a cheap 10000mAh 7.4V battery and pop it in?
Thoughts, electro wizards?
