I've seen quite a few Mac Mini's for sale of late - and I know that many others have experience .
I was lucky enough to be gifted a Mac Mini (late 2014) in fantastic condition . The previous owner bought it used from someone else, but it was far too slow and I was lucky enough to get it . I assume it was slow relative to his M1 - but it seems something is not quite working well and it's really slow . It's really not even usable in the current state .
After Googling, it seems the HDD is probably the culprit as it was fitted with a 500GB 5400rpms which many say is the bottleneck .
Upgrading to a 256GB is between R2,000-R2,500.00 - but curious as to how others found performance on this old machine with SSD? My Windows PC of the same era with 8GB/SSD is more than useful close on 10 years down the line - so it matches the performance and I can surg, use cloud service and mail - I'm happy.
macOS Big Sur
Mac Mini (Late 2014)
1,4ghz Dual Core Intel i5
4GB 1,600mgz RAM
