So having just finished upgrading my headphones and settling on the HD600's after long deliberation and many listening sessions, I thought what better way to test my sanity than to start all over again with my speaker setup
As the title states, I currently have a pair of Mackie CR-4's, hooked up to a The Element amp/dac via the RCA pre-out. The Mackies sit on foam padding on boxes to bring them level with my ears, at each end of my desk. I love their sound, especially with the recent PC sound to DAC upgrade - but as is always the case, I'm wondering, could it be better?
So since you guys were so helpful with headphone recommendations, I thought I'd pose the question - is it worthwhile upgrading? And are there any specific speakers I should look at?
I don't have space for floor standing speakers in my study unless I get rid of a fair amount of furniture, so ideally they'd be desk speakers like the Mackies and not overly huge. (desk is fairly large though) I'd also like to avoid a separate sub-woofer. I'm not a bass head and I find the amount of bass the current set can put out more than enough for my tastes.
Appreciate any input!
