My latest build, I call it the MAP150.2 Pics are bad, kak phone
I got the last 2 Maplin 150w kits we had, bought some off cut aluminium, some secondhand heatsinks and ended up with this. It aint done yet, still need to mount the transformer for the dc protect circuits, thats fitted directly under the amp modules. These little circuits offer dc, short circuit, thermal protection, as well as soft start. Need to give the 5mm front plate a few more runs with 220 grit sandpaper, as I see there appears to be a scratch to the right of the switch. No idea where that came from. I later decided that I would like to mount 2 vu meters on the front panel, on either side of the power switch. Found a small little circuit with less than 9 components which could easily drive 2 meters straight of the line input. It wasnt meant to be accurate, more for looks. Got 2 vu meters, was gonna fit diffused blue leds in them. Changed my mind once I thought of how ****** non rectangular cut outs would look, all I have is a router for that. Also need to get the proper tranny mounting, that wooden disc thingy me bob doesn't look good at all. The plumbing aint good looking at all. I find one of the hardest things to do when building an amp is making it look neat inside and pleasing to the eye. I must say, these are very nice sounding modules, not harsh at all. I remember seeing a post somewhere, that these modules kicked the Naim NAP250 (name might be wrong) to the ground.
Anyway, here it is, Will post more pics once I get around to finishing it.
Actually cant wait to get it done and on to the shelf.
