Hi Guys

I am new to home theatre and have just acquired a Marantz SR 5005.  I was looking at pairing it with a B&W 684 speaker package (5.1) and bi-amping the front speakers.  The salesperson informed me that Marantz is not well matched to that speaker package and it does not have adequate power to drive them. The power on the Marantz is 100 watts RMS per channel - discrete so i thought that it would be adequate but i was also told that it does not have great power supply for those speakers in comparison to top-end amplifiers.

He informed me to use the B&W 685 package instead, the reason i don't want to use this package is because my lounge is rather large and open plan as well, also the stands for those speakers will set me back about R5,000.

He also informed me that i should maybe get another receiver to drive them and suggested the Yamaha RXV 1067.  The RMS power on both the units seem to be similar so maybe i am missing something.  I need some advice regarding 684 speaker setup, will it work well with the Marantz, if not which other speaker packages will be best suited for it.

Thanks

Jay
