Hi Guys

I apologise in advance if they is a dumb question but i need some guidance.
Only recently have i gotten in the AV world and bought my first Home Theatre System a couple of months ago.
It sounds pretty awesome to me but i need advice on what to purchase if i want to watch MKV movies with the HT system.
I am currently using a Dell Laptop through HDMI to the HT but there is a definite drop in the sound quality when compared to a original Blu Ray movie, im not sure whether the HD audio is encoded on the MKV as nothing shows up on the AVR as with a original Blu Ray disk.

Is it the fact that im using a laptop that is causing the drop in quality or is a bad MKV file.
Also is a laptop the best possible method to watch the MKV files through the HT or should i get a media player or perhaps even a Blu Ray
player, currently using the PS3 as a Blu Ray player.

If i should get a media player is it possible to get one for under R1500, it would not require a HD as a have a few portable drives.

My receiver is a Yamaha RX V673 in case that is any importance.

Thanks Guys
