I have an Apple TV2, which is great, but it doesn't play .avi's or mkv's. I can convert those files to Apple friendly m4v using Handbrake, but invariably the re-compression reduces the quality substantially, not to mentione that you can't select an audio track with Apple TV2. What I am looking for is a media player that does the following:

- plays all modern video formats (well at least .avi and .mkv)
- receives streaming wirelessly from a Mac (in other words it can do the same thing as the Apple TV2)
- doesn't have a huge footprint, or if it does it can serve another purpose, such as being a DVD/BluRay player

Any suggestions?
