really ot i know, but there are so many knowledgeable people here from so many different fields i thought it worth asking here.

a friend of mine has a teenage son who is prone to fits. they are apparently not the usual type of fit.

the fit is normally quite silent, and results in breathing stopping, so without medical treatment the outcome could be quite severe. even with treatment he is sometimes hospitalised, & can take a long period to fully recover.

she is a single parent, & is having trouble sleeping in case he has an incident & she doesn't hear.

i suspect that there may well be some kind of sensor which could sound an alarm - something like a fitbit or a smart watch with an app. i have found a couple of likely looking items on the web, but can't seem to find anything local.

would anyone here know of something suitable, or of someone in sa who could advise on options?
