Merantz SR 5003 dies from corrosion

This unit is just over three years old. It has packed up due to corrosion on all boards.
I live about 3 kms from the sea.
My 15 year old Rotel integrated amp shows no signs of corrosion yet shares the same
hi-fi cabinet. The chromed rear sockets are corroding too yet no corrosion on the Rotel.
Makes one think, does it not?
