I bought 1 bottle of purple methylated spririts yesterday from The Builder's Warehouse in Fourways (JHB). They wanted identification, which they copied. I called the manager & asked who/what/why. He said that is now government regulations, yet there is no limit on how much I can buy.
I notice it isn't sold at all at some other branches of B-W-H, and it's vanished from Pick&Pay shelves.
I saw it at Checkers today... didn't check if they too want ID to buy.
Anyone else encountered this? What do people do with it? If it's only to drink, they are wasting their money - you can get cheaper wine.
