I would like to hear from users that have migrated between fibre service providers: what was the process?
We initally had a Telkom installation, giving 20Mbps down/2 Mbps up speed. After the contract expired it defaulted to a month-to-month giving 20/20. It recently changed to 50/50, which is OK, but it is severely shaped and randomly throttled. I identified a package from Afrihost who promises the same speed with "Uncapped. Unshaped. Unthrottled.". I applied to Afrihost for migration of service, but they informed me that first I have to terminate the service with Telkom so that Telkom can release the line. I had hoped that they would handle all this - otherwise, why call it a migration? I don't want to be without service - or otherwise have only minimal disruption. I have considered getting the Rain service up again.
Thoughts?
