I bought 8x Vifa 8" woofers made for Mission Super 770 from Supergrand and got a Mission Cyrus 782 crossover . Also , a while ago , purchased Visaton SC 10 N 8ohm tweeters from Noizyboy ( PQSound ) .
Vifa woofer : more or less this - http://www.madisoundspeakerstore.com/approx-8-woofers/scanspeak-classic-p21wo20-8-woofer-poly-cone/
Same basket , dome is inverted though .
Visaton SC 10 N : http://www.visaton.com/en/chassis_zubehoer/ht_kalotten/sc10n_8.html
The 782 crossover : from stereophile review " A six-element crossover, with second-order (12dB/octave) filters and a 3.2kHz nominal frequency, divides the frequency spectrum. The hard-wired network features polyester and ALCAP capacitors along with air-core inductors. A split network is used to allow bi-wire and bi-amp capability."
Strictly speaking not a D'Appolito configuration because crossover is 2nd-order ( 12db/octave ) compared to D'Appolito's 3rd-order ( 18db/octave ) configuration for MTM .

The box : I kinda thumbsucked a ported box design , based on Vifa spec sheets and discovered the box tuning in retrospect using WinISD .
I was amazed to see that my build and port was tuned to 34hz in WinISD ( rectangular port 43mm H x 340mm W x 350mm deep ) , Vifa spec sheet had tuned ported box to 35hz @ 30l , 40l , 50l and 60l . I had basically doubled up on the volume of the port for 60l enclosure . My enclosure is ~73l . Yesterday I grew impatient and decided to screw the drivers into the boxes before I've finished sanding and painting and sanding and painting ......... They sound REAL good !
Pics of boxes and graphs to follow shortly .
