Having just read the great enthusiasm regarding model helicopters in another section,
I am wondering if any member owns/operates a scale model railway. Here I rather mean the in-house type: HO- or N-gauge. In my case: A modest HO layout of five steam locos, a number of passenger and goods carriages. Locos are Rivarossi Mallet and Hudson, Lima Mikado, Fleishmann shunter and Bachmann Mountain Class (4-8-4). These came from long ago; it would cost about R7K these days to acquire. Digital multi-channel control is in these days, but my bank balance rather limits me to DIY here; still in the future.
