Can't believe how long I have been missing out on Flac!!
Suppose in recent times I have been into lots of new music forms which are predominantly found in MP3 format. I moved around a fair bit in the last 2 years so all my CD's were packed into boxes, so the required daily quality comparison of CD to MP3 was lost on me. I have worked through a good few Hi-Fi systems after finding this forum, so my skills of relativity were no doubt also a little wonky!

Decided to finally rip a CD to FLAC today and see what this was about....
Ja MP3 just sounds flat in comparison, not sure exactly what's missing (trebles and bass have definitely got something AWOL) but the guts are ripped out in that format, even at the highest 320kps, gutless really is the only description. MP3 you don't get sustenance, meals just leave you half fill and unsatisfied, disposable MacDonalds musical format. :blah:

FLAC on the other hand in combination with some great speakers and decent amp + DAC just brings the music experience right up to 2014 convenience without failing. Virtually anything sounds interesting again :)
  :rubhands:

Anyone who hasn't jumped up to 2014 needs to give FLAC a try, that is if you listen to CD's, vinyl is still the Mac Daddy of them all but not all of us can live the dream
