I recently attended the 2nd "Music Evening at the Indaba Hotel" on the 14th November.
Full Rega System. Rega P5 & P7 turntables with Rega Fono pre-stages, Rega Apollo cdp, Rega Cursa Pre and Brio amps. Speakers were Rega R5s... System's sound were quite appealing and produced music in an organic fashion. Only at high levels the speakers seemed to "clip" a bit. Not too fond of the top-loading Rega Apollo cd-player - seems Rega tried to emulate the vinyl experience by using top-loading cd mechanisms. Also a Valve Audio Predator doing duty as well as the Valve Audio Prototype Whisper Phono-stage.
Digital only system. EMM Labs SACD/CD Reference Signature Edition player with Maestro Amplification and Spendor S9e speakers. All cables were Ecosse with Furutech ancillaries. System is extremely revealing but lacks "musical" mid-range. Loads of headroom that provides enough dynamics to blow your hair off! Nice system but it isn't so nice that I would spend money on it...
The EMM Labs player. Display is way too "in-your-face"... reminds me of Waida.
Guests having a good time...
Over-alll it was nice to mingle with like-minded people that share a passion for good audio!
