Hi All,
just some useless information... I was on here 2 nights ago...low and behold spotted a post in the classifieds
advertising a NAD 1300 MONITOR SERIES PRE-AMP, someone in JHB, next i saw someone in cape town selling the same amp...
i actually think seller in JHB sold to buyer in cape town... i then proceded to buy the 1300 nad pre-amp... so im technically.. i suspect...
the 3rd forum member to own this same amp.. (complete with trademark beaten up chassis)
now my main amp i run is a NAD 302 amplifier, this is based on the (apparently, i say apparently cuz ive never had the privilege of hearing/owning one) legendary nad 3020. its not running its power amp, im using the pre-outs to go out to the philips mfb 545's i have (these each have their own tri-amp power amps, each driver has its own amp)
First thing i did when i got home after fetching the amp from my fellow forum member, was open the cover, inspect.. neat!!... then i simply had to hook it up to give
it a listen... I was very very surprised to what i heard.. ok i must admit it was only hooked up for 10minutes...and i have just had a bit of chesty cough etc.. so my hearing might not be up to scratch...
but i swear this pre-amp sounds better than the 302... i had other commitments... so i decided to pack it up... will give it a proper "SESSION" listening sometime to make up my mind for real...
although, on second thought i think the 302 is a more neutral sounding "amp". it could be that the 1300 nad pre-amp might have a colored sound, and the nad 302 might be a more subdued / neutral unit and this might have appealed to me at that particular point in time... time will tell.
Cheers
Anton
