Hi guys
I know I have another thread going but just wanted to start fresh with some updates.
(Samsung 50" Series 5 full HD plasma, approximately 16 months old)
1. Plasma has a flickering or flashing on the HD sport channels. This is a very brief flash but my eye picks this up and it is so annoying
2. Close ups of football players or cricket players on HD sport appear to blur under motion. For example, if the camera focuses on a players face just after he has scored a goal or whatever, the face appears to blur or smudge as the player looks away or starts to walk/run away from the camera)
3. I have picked up what seems to be a new problem. Under very light scenes on any channel, I have a band of about 5cm running across the entire screen about a 1/3rd of the way down the screen. It's hard to describe what it looks like but it looks like a band of ghosted or blurred image. You don't often see this image but I have realised that it is always there no matter what channel.
So what have I done over the past few days?
1. I called my sales person at Metro. He informed me that there is no warranty left on the plasma and all I can do if bring the plasma in to him and he will send it away on my behalf.
2. I have changed HDMI cables and even ran the plasma directly from my HD PVR to the plasma with no change on the HD channels. I did this to ensure that it isn't my Onkyo receiver that is the problem.
Is there anything else that I have missed in terms of trouble shooting? I'm starting to get annoyed now with this whole situation and after reading some of the other members posts about how long the Korean televisions are lasting, I am starting to think that I am purchasing the wrong brand! It's a pity as we have a number of Samsung appliances plus have always recommended them to friends and family etc.
If anyone has anything else to add (apart from snide comments about me changing brands :whistler I would be most grateful!
Cheers
