So my old 'boere variac' aka the dim bulb tester can now be pensioned-off. I managed to buy a Philips variac here on the forum from darrylo but it had no enclosure and I was completely unfamiliar with wiring this useful tool.
With some considerable help from Charles and Jannas here, I did the job which was completed yesterday and is now ready for use. I must still enclose two of the enclosure sides.
