My 95 Camaro Z28 was waiting for an auto box repair , got it back Fri evening (it stood for 3-4 months before I could fit it in to the workshop)
It was a hotazell stinker in CT on Sunday
I needed to fetch my kid and her friend from play practice at school. 20+ odd km from home.  The Camaro is my only  4 seater so decided to take it for a little run  to fetch em at round 2.30pm.
I always keep an eye on the gauges as I drive , was no problem going there , these cars have a lean burn engine and run quite hot , so a little over 3/4 temp on the gauge is no issue when in traffic etc.
When leaving the school saw the gauge was a lot above 3/4 and creeping up to the max mark on occasion , and no matter what I did it wouldn't come down (on the open rd it drops to less than half)
I was sort of freaking out and tried all the stuff like using aircon (engages extra fans) and coasting, switching heater full blast , nothing helped.
Hoping that I would make it home without a bust/seized engine...praying for divine intervention , no red robots or slow traffic ,  hoping it was maybe a stuck heat gauge and envisioning blown head gasket bills and more....
The DUH moment was when I realised I was looking at the fuel gauge and not the temp gauge (they next to each other - rhs of pic)
