My quad 2805's arrived yesterday which i bought from a forum member. Managed to setup these speakers yesterday evening and to be honest, I expected alot more from these speakers. For one, they are totally uncoloured which is a good thing i suppose but there is something missing in the sound as I am comparing them to my Magneplanar MGII's which to me sound much better.

One of the speakers have a faint arcing sound too, but you have to have the volume right down or off to hear it. When the music is playing even at low volumes, its inaudible. Dont know if its something I should be worried about.

I have the speakers around a meter away from the rear walls, which i would think should be fine for initial listening.

Equipment using with the quads:

Shanling Tube cd player
Musical fidelity F19 hybrid amplifier & F25 preamp.

Since these are seriously uncloured speakers with little dynamic ability, I might consider using them as center speakers with the maggies as my mains together with my REL storm subwoofer in my home theatre setup.

Will see if the quads are able to change my impression over the next couple of days
