I have always believed that a cable is a cable is a cable, but after some inexpensive upgrades during the past week, I have found that cables does make a difference and some tweaks do work.
I still don't believe that an expensive cable is better than a relatively inexpensive one, though :icon_naughty:
Since last week I have changed all my interconnects to DIY RG59(Adler Kabel) cables and replaced the Monster bi-wire speaker cable with braided CAT5 cable and I could hear a lot more detail(so can my wife  )
The tweak I tried was to place squash balls(halved) under my CDP as it occasionally skipped when playing bass-heavy music and the sound improved even more
Whilst evaluating the sound, I used music that I knew well and tried to stay away from the better recordings and in all cases it sounded better. Then last night I tried two of my "reference" recordings - Cantate Domino and Patricia Barber Live in Paris - and I was bowled over by how good it sounded  I did not do any A-B testing so there was nothing scientifically involved, but I am as happy as a pig in sh!t about these inexpensive upgrades.
Okay, okay, you can shoot me down in flames(I am Jean-Pierre, the famoose French fitter piloet, when I go down, I go down in flames! :icon_naughty: ), but I hear a difference and I love it!
NB. If anyone wonders what the story is with Jean-Pierre, it is a joke that has to be heard to be appreciated(with French accent et al!)
