Hi All

Thought I'd share my room treatment journey with everyone. I'm a noob at the whole room acoustics thing so hope to land some good advice from fellow forumites. Below is a pic of the room in question. Its dimensions are: Length = 6.1m; Width = 3.4m (sort of); Height = 3.1m.

The "sort of" comment next to the width is because the (x bed)room actually has a dressing room off to the side - mine, and ensuite - also mine. So this is a fully furnished, self contained, man cave gents!!! And the wifey even approves...  :angrywife: Here's a pic of it looking to the back:

To bring everyone up to speed this is the journey so far.

Initially I had a centre image off to the left of centre (the its not a centre image is it Einstein?). I figured it was the room acoustics because of the widening width to the right. Tried a few speaker positions but nada. To centre the image took about a 2dB shift on the balance of the preamp. After scratching enough dandruff from my scalp I downloaded a free iPhone app:  JL Audio and done a polarity test on the speakers. And rubuck me the left speaker polarity was incorrect! A quick speaker wire swop around and BANG the image was centred!

Then the room has hardwood floors on a concrete slab with a slab above as well. To say the room was lively would be like saying Vanilla Ice was an ok white rap artist - huge understatement! So thats where the grey plush carpet came in. This tamed things down quite a bit (me thinks the Kassler would have a good line for that).

So for now I'm awaiting my UMC1 and will hopefully run some REW analysis in the coming weeks. To keep me busy Ive sourced a rigid fibreglass supplier in Ghana. I'll go on tinkering with the speaker placement to see if I can get the room to play

Wish me luck...
