So my wife and I were watching a show the other day and all of a sudden my receiver clicked and fell silent. I took a look at the front panel and saw that it was constantly cycling through the listening modes. It was also completely unresponsive to both the remote and face buttons. So I went online and looked up the problem and discovered this:

So I took it in the next day and it was sent off to Onkyo. Just got a mail to say they'll be sending me a brand spanking new NR809, sweet! Plus I only sent the unit itself so I score a spare remote and Audyssey mic.
