Got my HD PVR installed , I use a digital feed directly to meridian DSP speakers (own dacs and amps built in)
On the PVR I have set it to NOT autodetect surround sound as my speakers wont recognise it as a valid input signal and wont play anything. Problem is , the NAT GEO HD chan has ONLY got got surround sound as a language option ...so the speakers are silent when watching it.
I can just enable the TV sound , but it's at a low level , it seems even the TV doesnt like to "decode" and play the surround sound.
Anyone know of a better workaround or should I just bitch at DSTV and ask em to provide an non surround sound option as well.
The sound variances and levels of DSTV are a huge problem , levels vary between chans , on ad breaks etc etc - really irritating.
