After a recent experience with something falling off the roof in the rain and the close shave from inside water damage, I've been checking out some large oak trees surrounding my house.
The trees go down a panhandle road and belongs to property at the rear of my house.
The trees are in very poor condition and I regularly pick up smaller fallen branches inside my property.
The problem is one particularly rotten oak tree leaning over towards the lounge section of the roof and I'm reasonably certain this tree hasn't long to go before it will come crashing down on my roof. It is certainly tall enough to destroy the entire lounge roof and chimney.
The problem is this - neighbours around here don't talk to one another as they are 'snooty' or windgat if one could call it that.
So I made a polite phonecall to the neighbour concerned and discussed the problem.
As expected, the bloke was very offhand and mentioned that he doesn't attend to things like this, his wife does - crap I've heard before. He further mentioned that his wife may call me, which hasn't happened.
There's no proof I called him and if I write him an ordinary letter - posted or hand delivered, there's still no proof that I discussed the matter with him.
I've had two past experiences with registered letters - the types living around here either don't collect or don't want to sign for them or otherwise go into a frenzy of abuse.
My property is threatened by the neighbours rotten tree and although insured, I don't want to go through another drama with repairers invading my life.
Advice, anyone? Does the municipality - slapgat as they all are these days - offer a solution or recourse?
mafioso
