My buddy just bought a new house and have decided to do a sound upgrade, so he's asked me for some advice. His budget is about 10k, but I think I can probably make him push to 12 if he needs to.
Have been looking at what's going on in the AVR market nowadays, was going to recommend a Yammy 565, but I just saw that you can get a Denon 1709 for about R6 650.00 That's just a good deal eh? Don't know what the Onkyo 607's go for now, but i'm sure it's more than that. I see AudioVision is also running a special on their Harman Kardon 155 for R6.5k
Anyway, I was wondering, once he spends 6, 6.5 k on an AVR, what speakers does buy for R5k? It's not a huge room, so bookshelves on stands would probably work for fronts, though towers are aways nicer. Any ideas? I was thinking, maybe Missions? Is there anything halfway decent that even fits remotely into that pricerange?
