A warm 'hello!!' to everyone on avsa..my new home for, a very long time I suspect.

My name is Michael, and I'm new...and inexperienced... a combination not unlike some governments..

My new found interests are : Fostex full range drivers, diy horns and the appropriate pre/post tube amp kits..

First off...I'm from Durban, studied biochemistry at UND with two degrees, I can also solder and woodwork..!!

I'm also impatient...meaning, I want to delve right in..the learning curve will come later.. :teach:

My quest?

Building a suitable (reasonably priced) system consisting of two (later four) speaker units, and a suitable tube amp setup.
I know...type of music/application..room size..budget..taste....wife (let's not forget about that)..

my main interests range from HiFi (70's-90's pop and Lizt 'Hungarian Rhapsody!' - Rachmaninov) to movies (non action)...

My first speaker build would involve the Fe126e (FH MK3) and Fe206en with a cabinet yet to be determined, the amp setup I like
(but might be grossly out of proportion or suitability) is the Mars kit 2 MK 2.

(btw...my contact may be able to source materials from China...)

Anyway... it seems that most AV stuff and electronics are
sourced from the Joburg area and CPT.

Can anyone point me in the right direction?
Someone I could speak to in the Durban area?

Feel free to dissuade me...all opinions are welcome!

Michael
