Newbie - Stereo Advise - Where to start ?

I tried to search for newbie advise but do not find any , maybe anyone can help with links or advise

What component to buy first or where do you start building a stereo setup ?

Do you get speakers first and then then the amp,etc ?

Was thinking of getting Tannoy MX1 or MX2,similar and build from that
